Sorry Andy, let me rephrase that question. Sounds like the default for this propoery "alwaysvisible" is 0 (hidden - do not show). And thus when creating the menu we need to include the property to have the menu appear. with(milonic=new menuname("Site Menu")) { position="rela...

Andy,

I'm curious why the default is hidden. Would most users not want the menu visible?

Thanks Ruth and I guess that demo you pointed me too, also answers my other question I posted today about the reference number in the menu property guide.

Example function call: mm_changeMenuProperty("main menu", 7, 0);

The property 7 is the menu property alwaysvisible.

Not sure what more detail, i want actually. It's just that some properties have little info and others more that led me to wonder if there was a more comprehensive reference document somewhere. If these reference numbers mean something only to Milonic internals then I'd suggest they not be used in e...

Oh, my question was not about using 0 or 1 vs on of off. It's why or when is ever used to set the property alwaysvisble to 0 or off. I am in fact creating the menu's programatically from mysql via php but that should not be relevant.

What does ref# refer to

In the online style property guides, what does the ref number refer to. Is there a more detailed style guide document?

Would alwaysvisible=0 ever be used?

Can anyone give me a reason/purpose where the menu option alwaysvisble would ever be 0 for a main menu.

Is it only used for sub-menus when you don't want the main menu to appear when you select a submenu. Even that seems like an awkard and confusing application.

At first I did not need to change the bgcolor onhover but now I do. The overimage works except once the page is selected and the pagematch correctly uses the selected style, the image reverts back to the non-selected image and now has the wrong background. Is this a bug - looks like I have version 5...

Hehe - thanks that will work just fine as I'm not changing the meniuitem background color.

I wonder if there was not an equivelent of the image parm but for text.

Adding a text label before menuitem

The following link works and my menu style shows the underline when I hover over the menuitem as desired. aI("text=» '.$label.';url='.$url.';"); What I want though, is to have the »  appear before the menuitem url label so that it does not have the und...

Amazon Style Menu question

I'm looking to do something similar to the example style here This style relies on each tab being the same size and I wanted to allow for variable size tabs - like this site here This menu is based on tables and images. Would it be possible to specify a series of images to accomplish the same style.

If your lucky enough to be running Geeklog as your site CMS/Portal then you can use the glMenu plugin that I developed which integrates a menu builder with Geeklog's Core menu and security functions. All the Milonic menu links are created dynamically based on user access rights and the glmenu defini...

Hi Andy, Ruth:

Andy, that tab'ed example is in showing the same border effect that I saw with the dpreview menu.

Ruth I was going to annotate a screen shot to point it out - do you see the same now with the border on the dpreview site?

Andy, did you need to use the 5.7 release to get this effect?

Thanks Ruth, That helped and I was able to take it and make some final tweaks to get the effect as well as the submenu. The only thing I could not duplicate was the way the black 1px border appears around the current menu position and integrates the submenu border as well if the item has a submenu. ...

Thanks Ruth,

I thought it was a clean looking layout and its quite quite fast as well. It appears to be a custom set of JS scripts that Phil of dpreview.com wrote himself - talented guy 8)

I was pretty sure the Milonic can mimic the look and feel

menu style like used on dpreview.com

Is it possible to create the same menu look and effect as that shown on dpreview.com It's more the submenu look and effect that I've not seen in any Milonic examples. Normally I see the submenu is positioned to the right and lower. It may be that all that is required is to use the same color for the...

Can I assume that the collapseable menu shown here requires the custom JS libraries and that even with the menu styles used in the example that it would not work with the current 5.6.x code?

Also make sure you don't have a pop-up blocker enabled. I thought mine was disabled but it was still preventing the new window from appearing. Worked fine in Firefox.

After allowing the host in IE 6 SP2, the target=_new; worked.
