If I remember correctly, the advert-sponsored version of Opera (for PC) made the general look of a webpage very different from the full version.

But this was the last release of version 6 for PC when 7 was still a beta.

What about if you change the file extension to .SHTM ?

Our web servers have IIS here, but I decided to set up IIS on my own XP Pro laptop to do experiments on beforehand.

Your menu is seriously out of date. You mention using 3.4, the last version 3 was 3.5.15.

We are now on Version 5, and this is the V5 support forum. You could post your message in the V3 forum but I'd strongly suggest downloading the latest version from Milonic instead.

Two options: 1) Post your question in the V3 forum - this is version 5, a completely different menu. 2) Use the latest V5 menu from Milonic's home page, yours is seriously out of date! I strongly recommend option 2, the new menu is much faster and easier to implement, especially as the version you h...

Can't see a problem. I take it the ones you want to pop up are the coloured states? Not being an American, I'm assuming Tenessee is TN, Colorado is CO and Louisiana is LA!

What size (in Kb) are your icons? Have you made sure that you resized them and reduced the quality of the pictures before you use them in the menu system?

Its a feature I've not used before, but looked very useful so I tried to implement it also.

It highlights my home page, but if when I go to another, it doesn't make the change for some reason.

I don't think Andy and Milonic have anything against frames, but their priority has been in getting the V5 menu fully working and free of bugs. I was a frames user and a bit dismayed that to use the V5 menu I would have to change, but I feel it was a change for the better. I learnt how to implement ...

If you want to add it to just one menu item rather than the entire style, then use the following:

Code: Select all

aI("text=Test;fontweight=bold;");
normal and italic also works, and you can also alter the colour and alignment of individual items in this way too.

The way I've gotten around includes is when I create a site there are nothing but folders in the root. The three folders which are always there are: JS MAIN IMAGES ...then subsequent folders for other parts of my site, such as NEWS, ABOUT, GAMES etc. Basically a folder for the main titles on my menu...

XP Service pack two? As far as I am aware, only SP1a is the official current release at present, SP2 is still a beta.

Do you think there are some patches which may be affecting the menu?

If it were me, I would download the latest version, unpack it to a folder and copy your menu_data.js into it to see how it runs.

Then I would backup my folder containing all my JS files and then drop the new ones into it.

Should be ok then. Back-up the current menu_data.js file and drop yours in to see what happens. I did this with mine and had no problems, but I think others have reported issues with certain visuals.

How old is 'very old'? If it is a V3 menu then you won't be able to use it unless you run the file through the converter.

At the moment, the end of the JS file uses:

Code: Select all

drawMenus()
I'm can't remember what it used to be.
