Anyone used with click density tools?
Anyone used with click density tools?
Hello,
I have CrazyEgg set up on my website, along with the Milonic menu. But it does not pick up any of the clicks in Milonic because of the javascript, I am assuming. Just wondering if any one has got it to work with CrazyEgg or ClickDensity and what changes you had to make to Milonic?
Thanks.

Re: Anyone used with click density tools?
It will depend on the version of menu you are using.
The later ones, version 5 or above use normal text links so should add normal entries to your weblogs

Re: Anyone used with click density tools?
ok, thanks. i spoke with crazyegg and they don't support drop down menus, even though the links can be picked up in the logs.
Re: Anyone used with click density tools?
Do they support <UL><LI> list based menus?
If they do, you can use the new version that's coming soon on beta release once we get the Internet Explorer bugs (of which there are many) fixed.

Re: Anyone used with click density tools?
not sure about that. their tools works based on an x/y region map and if the link's not in javascript, it may work. i can test out once the new version is out, or i can test with a beta version if possible to let you know the results.
Re: Anyone used with click density tools?
Have you got a link of where you are using the CrazyEggThingy?
I can't beleve they are using mouse position, that must be so unreliable.
I can easily write a script to capture ANY mouse click event and return the object, check the tagName - if it's an <A> log it. It's really simple, it would work with any link too.

Re: Anyone used with click density tools?
sure, how can i send the link to you privately. can't seem to do that on here.
Re: Anyone used with click density tools?
send it to my email:
Re: Anyone used with click density tools?
it is sent. thanks.
i will also try installing clickdensity later today, and see if that is any better.

Re: Anyone used with click density tools?
hello,
hopefully you got the link i sent yesterday. i tried it with clickdensity, and that appears to be capturing the clicks. but since it is a drop down menu, it is hard to visualize which clicks were for the menu and which were for the actual page. it looks a bit jumbled. i sent their support a note asking if there's a way to handle that.
thanks.

Re: Anyone used with click density tools?
Hi,
Sorry for the delay.
I did look at the code you sent me but it's quite obfuscated and difficult to read so couldn't really see how it worked.
All I can say is that the menu uses standard text links using the <A> tag - These should result in log file hits and if they do not then the CrazyEgg system must be doing something odd. Sorry I couldn't help further.

Re: Anyone used with click density tools?
ok, thanks.
now that google offers canonical url's for pages, i can add a tracking paramater to the end of the links coming out of the milonic menu. I was afraid to do that before because google may think of it as duplicate content. this will help tracking where the links are coming from as well.
