Upgrade from 2006 version to 5.830

Post by GBC »

Hello,

I have a very old version (from 2006) installed on my site and would like to upgrade to the 5.830 version, however I am afraid of losing all my customizations.

Can I install the new version but keep my menu_data.js file the same? If not, what are the steps that I need to follow to do the update? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi,

As long as the main version number is the same then your data file will be compatible and will not need changing.

So, as long as you are running version 5.??? you can just update the files milonic_src.js and mmenudom.js

Hi Andy,

Thanks for the reply.

The good news is that I did the upgrade and you are correct, my menu_data.js is compatible with the latest version.

The bad news is that it didn't resolve my ultimate problem, which is this:

In Firefox, the menus don't drop down with mouse over, however the top menu item does highlight on mouse over (everything works fine in Internet Explorer). I was thinking that because my version of software was about 4 years old, the solution would be to just upgrade the software. Unfortunately, it had no effect, so I am guessing that there is something in my menu_data.js file that migh not be correct? Any thoughts as to why it would work in IE but not in Firefox? Thanks!

Is your menu embedded in something like a table cell or a div?

If so, there are a few things you need to do, there's a document at http://milonic.com/tablemenu.php that might help
