horizontal orientation

Post by henrik@itide.dk »

Hi

I have problems with RC3 horizontal orientation within a table.

(PC)
In IE6 it is OK, but in Opera, Netscape & Mozilla the menu is placed to the right instead of center.

(Mac)
Same problem with IE5.5, Opera, Netscape & Camino.

Also problems with the position of the submenus

Can you post some of your code or something? I currently have an RC3 horizontal menu attached to a table, and it looks 100% identical in IE6 and Mozilla, and has only a few small differences in Opera (which I discussed in my last post: Topic 2150: submenu positioning ).

Centering of Horizontal Menu in Table

Post by stephen702 »

My horizontal table centers properly in Netscape 4.7 and 7, but is forced right in Opera 6, and the right-hand side of the menu bar disappears altogether, and the last meny item on the right doesn't drop down.

http://www.aact.org/table.htm

(This is pretty much the sample table you provide, with a few color corrections. That's about as far as I got before noticing the centering issue.)

I don't know if this is related to centering and/or in a table, but in IE 6 and Netscape 7, when you click on some of the drop-down menu items, the entire menu bar expands in width slightly, which I find unsettling. (It doesn't do that in Netscape 4.7 or Opera 6.)

Before we get any crazier looking at code, try moving up to RC4 at http://milonic.com/v5_rc4/menu.htm. Can't remember everything that was fixed, but at this stage it usually pays to be up to date.

Let us know.

Not sure if the big man wants this published, but there is a RC5 page available. Its what I am playing with. I dont know if its any more advanced than RC4, or in what ways. But take a look if you want..

I'd just like to say (I think) that the above post was John's 500th, congratulations to John!! May he have 500 more as the Milonic menu continues to grow in popularity and feature-set. :D :P :)

Good grief, Matilda :!: Another 500 :?: Any idea how much I neglected my wolf to get these in :?: :?:

Anyway - thank you. I appreciate it. It's fun when you've got such a great product to work with (as I'm sure you know).
