Menus open VERY slow when <select> contains many <o

Post by Northrup »

Hello!

We just downloaded this menu because we heard it gets around the infamous z-order <select> problem. (Great product by the way – we are going to buy)

However, one of our test pages resulted in a VERY slow menu response time (3-5 seconds to open up each sub menu). We tracked it down to a particular select box that contained a few thousand records. Once I remove that select box, the menu runs much quicker. The form has many other select boxes on it, but the more options a select contains, the slower the menu gets. I’m sure that has to do with the way you are resolving the z-order issue, but what can I do to speed this up?

Ideas???

If you would like to see a sample page, I can create one - however, if you just take any working page and add a select with a few thousand random options items, it has the same effect.

Thank you VERY much!

Exactly what menu version, browser, and OS? We'd really need to see some kind of code to help you better.

BTW, a few thousand is a pretty hefty chunk :!:
