Dynamic Menu Tree.

Post by spearce »

Hi All,

We are currently testing the Milonic Menu for use with a Perl/MySQL application.

The menu's for the application are created on the fly for each user of the system with each one being unique depending on the access/task rights of each user.

The URL below shows an example of what the users menu's are planned to look like so far (with a few small changes to the graphics).

Has anyone done anything with tree graphics or similar as I would appreciate feedback (any examples) in making the menu's look at bit more professional/interesting.

The Milonic Menu fits our requirements very well but am a bit concerned about aesthetic limitations or rather my own ability to produce something worthy of a commercial app.
Any suggestions welcome.....Svend.

It's kind of difficult to figure out what you want with just the menu on a blank white page. You could try here, which is a page on this site to links of sites that use Milonic and see their designs, maybe get some ideas. This link is to the business category of users, but if you go to the main page, there's a box on the right for the users of the menu. http://milonic.com/list/index.php?go=category&cid=2 Maybe that will give you some ideas. I haven't seen one using the 'tree' with the little + though. Good luck

Seems like you got the +'s and -'s like a tree, so it looks like its expanding and collapsing. As Ruth mentioned, we are not quite sure what type of examples you are looking for...try and describe what you want it to look like maybe? Where you want images and what you want the images to do based on actions? We might not be able to do it for you but at least we can give you direction and get you going.

I meant to post this earlier. While playing with your menu, I discovered one thing, which probably has a fix but I don't know it. The submenus open based on the menu item from which they are called. If someone has their browser window small, and you have a submenu that is very long, none of your little + - with the L shaped dotted lines will match with it's 'mate'. Just something I thought you should know. There's probably a way to set the menu to not shift.
