newbie help

Post by sjp1966 »

Hi

I have just downloaded the menus and other bits and pieces to play around with and to try and get working, and i have 2 questions

try as i might i cannot get the menu to go to the center of the screen, i have tried the screenposition command the align command all to no avail, can someone please advise?

also, and more importantly really, the default menu comes with the word Milonic and the begining of it, and if you click on it, it takes you to the milonic website. As nice as this is i dont want it, and i want to eitehr delete it altogether or change it to a menu, but for the life of me i cannot

can someone please help

Hi,

You have the option of placing the link <a href="http://milonic.com/" title="milonic menu">milonic menu</a> on your page and the menu link will go away.

screenposition="center";

will work make sure you have it written under where it starts with style=
above the menu items,

I think in a table this helps
menualign="center";

show us a url if you need help.

See http://milonic.com/ for some info on licensing and necessary qualifications for a free license.

Thanks for that, i added the link and it is gone from the menu. can anyone help me on centering the menu in the screen.

I want it to be centered like the old V3 menu on my site at http://homepage.ntlworld.com/steve.peto/movies/dvd.html i have searched the forums and tried a couple of options that i saw in there, but the menu always stay to the left of the screen.

The only alternative ive found so far is to have it spread over 100% of the page, but thats not an ideal situation.

Thanks

Steve

I've run your JS file through the V3 to V5 converter and uploaded the results here:

Simply do a View Source on the page Andy did. You will note the _data file located at the same level as that page. With that in mind, build a URL that looks like this...

http://www.flhs.wigan.sch.uk/test2/menu_data.js

That will bring up the _data file for you, either in the browser window or in an editor, depending on how you have your machine set up.

Note that the convertor leaves a little editing still needed...

1. All aI lines should end as ;"); ...

Code: Select all

aI("text=DVD Movies&nbsp;&nbsp;;showmenu=DVD;;separatorsize=1;");
2. Remove the ;; items...

Code: Select all

aI("text=DVD Movies&nbsp;&nbsp;;showmenu=DVD;separatorsize=1;");
Note that #2 is not done in the case of 'DVD Movies&nbsp;&nbsp;;'. Here, one ; is to close the &nbsp;, and the other is to close the text= item.
