Overfilter

Post by SkyFlyer »

Hello all ...
Is there a description or samples of some uses for overfilter?
I did a search, but get far too many results.
I know you can use fade, shadow, dropshadow, but not sure of the parameters and how and when to use them.

Ruth has done some wonderful beginner posts.
Was wondering if she had some overfilter samples.
I have looked at the Menu Reference, but I'm still confused.

If someone could point to a few places that might have some good examples and reading material.
Thanks in advance for any tips ...
Nuffsaid ...

I think you're gonna like this... ;)

Ruth and I put together an interactive filters demo a while back. You'll find it right here. Maybe we should link to it from the samples menu on the main site?

As you try different filters, the textarea on the test page will change to show the overfilter and outfilter code that you'd use in your own menu_data to achieve the same effect. Once you find a filter or filter combo that you like, you can use the "Copy to Clipboard" button beneath the textarea to copy the code to the clipboard; then you can paste it directly into your own menu_data!

Hope that helps,

Kevin

Thanks, Kevin.
This is exactly what I was looking for.
And yes, please do link it.
Any more samples and ideas, if you have them.
Thanks ...

Kevin:
I didn't know how else to make contact with you.
I was wondering where I could make a suggestion about the Filter Demo?
In my case, the first drop down menu 'Static Filters', the colors are very hard for me to read. The font does not show up against the red background well. Maybe try changing the font color.
The rest of the menus look great.
Maybe it is because I am getting old and grey!
Looking forward to 'playing' with some options.
Thanks again ...

Hi Sky,
It was even worse before. Not Kevin's doing, but he gets the questions. Is it the black font color or when you mouseover?

It is perhaps just my eyes.
The combination of those two colors is hard to for me to see.
For me, I think white font would be better, similar to the 'Static Filters' menu button when you mouse over.
I'm making too much out of this, so please don't worry about it.
The whole idea of the demo is most excellent, and I have learned much from it already.
I think the link should be posted in easy place to find along with other samples or any collection of things that would help explain things.
Thanks for the good work.

Oh, I don't think it's your eyes. I fought with this at the beginning trying to find a font color that didn't 'blend in' with the background. I got so involved in the 'colors' I never thought of the simple white at all. :)

You'll figure something out. White would be good.
Next thing I want to spend some time on is the 'copyof' feature.
Keep up the good work.
