add image to beginning of menu item

I want to add a "new" image to the left of a menu item.

This will only show the graphic. How do I get the text to also show?

I just tried that code in the sample menu with a new.gif image and it works fine. Do you by chance have an old version of the menu, some of them had that problem I believe.

There is also a little function you can use that allows you to put a date in at which time it will stop showing the image. You can find a demo and sample of how to do that here.
