Menu on mac browsers question

Post by grazi »

Hello!

I'd like to buy and use your collapse menu:
http://milonic.com/treemenu/

However, before purchasing it, I'd like to know if it works ok on the following (sorry can only test on pc, so need to ask about mac):

- safari, opera, ie and firefox mac....

Many Thanks! Grazi

Yes, it works on a Mac. I do not have a Mac. John, who is a team member but isn't here right now, has a Mac and the menu works fine on it, with the caveat that with IE for Mac, which is no longer supported by MS, you have to use the correct placement for putting a menu in a table if you want it in a table.

We have a lot of users who have Macs, we get questions about Safari, IE, FF on the forum so if the menu didn't work on the Mac, I'd think no one would be using it. :)

Thansk... sorry, more questions...

Post by grazi »

Thank you Ruth.

I've done lost of tests with it and it all seems to be what I'm looking for. I've sent a question on the contact us form that can be ignored (sorry I've found the answer on the forum after :oops: )

I've now bought it, and I've removed the link to milonic by replacing the 2 js files - collapse menu wasn't available in the options, so I assumed it'd be fine to use from other ones these common files. It worked perfectly in ie, however, it no longers display in firefox! Can you please let me know where I can find the files that remove the link for this menu?

Also, I'd like the parent menu to be highlighted even when it doesn't have any siblings or 'showmenu'... is this possible?

Many Thanks & Happy New Year!!

Hi Grazi,

Welcome to Milonic. From another user, I think it's the greatest menu out there.

FYI, the only files you replace when you get the licensed menu and when you download the updates, [you are entitled to get them for a year - the menu is yours forever - but updates, support request forms, are only good a year unless you renew the support] the only files you replace are the 3 base program files, milonic_src.js, mmenudom.js and mmenuns4.js. The other files are user editable and once you edit them they are your 'directions' to the program on how to produce the menu on your site. All the samples are available, you purchase the menu and you can use any sample, any combination of samples, any bolt-on modules or combination of them.

As to the question. We need the page to see what's up. Since the menu is showing on IE it's working so something else is at work. There are so many variables as to why that might be there's no way to answer with any certainty without seeing the page.

It would be best if you can post a test page, much quicker, but if that is impossible, use the code button above and post the html code, the menu_data.js code [collapse data I think you said, that's really the same thing] and any css style sheet codes you have.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! :D

Grazi, I run the menu against Safari and Firefox with no problems at all. Don't have Opera, and since IE/Mac is now an unsupported and dead product I wouldn't worry about it.

Menu on firefox

Post by grazi »

Thank you both for you replies. the menu is so far so good for me ;-)

It looks like it was cached in my local server, as when i uploaded to show you, it worked fine! :D

I think that's the last issue I need to ask about:
When I have a menu that has no siblings or submenu, i'd like it to stay selected like when you click on one that has the submenu, but, i wouldn't like it to have the arrow down - is this possible?

Let me know if you need to see a sample and i'll upload something...

Thank you again for your help! Grazi

another question

Post by grazi »

sorry it wasn't the last one quite yet...

i actually have quite a major problem:(

when the sub-menu is 'advisory.asp' for example, and it's under 'about.asp', it's all working fine, the about stays open and selected as i'd like it to be (after reading your topics), however, if the file is 'advisory.asp?id=3' then, it loses the track and the menu is no longer highlighted... this will be the case in most of the sites... any ideas how i can go round this? thank you!!

Hi,

Take a look at the item properties references listed below my name. You want to read about pagematch. They are alphabetized.

Hope this helps.

nearly there...

Thank you Ruth.

Do I have to enter the full querystring on the pagematch?

Since the querystring is dynamic, the numbers will grow.

Using the example you gave below, page=1 or page=2, will grow by the day and have any random number.
Is there a way of using the pagematch with any querystring, not the exact one.
In the example, it'd be:

any page with '/index.php?cat=10&page=' (not matter what is after the page=) would pagematch '/index.php?cat=10;'

aI("text=Home;url=/index.php?cat=10;pagematch=/index.php?cat=10;");
aI("text=Home;url=/index.php?cat=10&page=1;pagematch=/index.php?cat=10;");
aI("text=Home;url=/index.php?cat=10&page=2;pagematch=/index.php?cat=10;");

Thank you so much once again. Best wishes, Grazi

Hi,

I'm sorry, I am out of my depth here. As far as I know that is designed so that the pagematch will work with a kind of keyword type setup, so if you put in pagematch=/index.php?cat=10;"); in an item, then if the page you get to has index.php?cat=10 as part of the url then it will match.

There is also a module call mmpagehighlighter.js on the bolt ons page.

http://milonic.com/menumodules.php

And here's the demo for it, though I have no idea what it is doing :?
