Menu not working properly on Mac

Please note that official support for this menu version has now ceased. There are still plenty of users, though, and the forum is still running. Some of our long-time users may be able to help you out.

Menu not working properly on Mac

Post by rwadhwa »

Hi,

The site I'm working on has both frames and non-frames pages. All of the frames pages have the main navigation on the left. And all of the non-frames pages have the main navigation on the left, along with a navigation bar on the top.

The menus work fine on PC's, but on the Mac (G4, OS 9.2, IE 5) it's getting a strange green background color across the screen and the text in the top menu is wrapping.

The site is : http://www.rackittechnology.com
The home page is in a frames structure. An example of a non-frames page is http://www.rackittechnology.com/KVM/KVM ... eries.html

I viewed it on another Mac (G3, OS 9.2, IE 4.7), which still has the text wrapping problem, but no strange green backgrounds.

Any ideas on what's going on with IE 5 on the Mac?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! :)

Hi Roozi,

Is the text wrapping in only the horizontal menus, or in topmenu's submenus as well? Since you set widths in your submenus, I'll assume it happens only in the "Always Visible" top menus. I hope I'm not oversimplifying, but if the text is wrapping, why not use   between words? The only ones I see in your horizontal menus preceed the text, in your "redbar" menu.

As for the green color, is it the entire background of the page, or a sort of "bar" of color? I've never seen it myself (and no Mac to go look), but I've heard of the color bar thing happening on Macs (and PCs with NS4.x I think), with the use of the 15th element of the menu array in vertical menus. But it looks to me like you've only set that element in your horizontal menus (btw, I'm not sure 0.5 is a valid value, but it doesn't seem to cause any harm when I test it). Still, it might be worth it to clear these values where you've used them, as a test to see if the green color problem is related. Also, just wondering, do you use that same color in any other element on that page? Sorry I can't be more definitive on that. Perhaps some of you Mac users out there can shed some light... John?

Hope that helps,

Kevin
