Conflicting JS

Please note that official support for this menu version has now ceased. There are still plenty of users, though, and the forum is still running. Some of our long-time users may be able to help you out.

Re: Conflicting JS

Post by Andy »

Arh - OverLib.

Right, there is a slight conflict between these two scripts.

Overlib will take over the mouse position code so as long as you don't want to display menu items by mouse position this should work.

Try updating your mmenu.js file with the one found at http://www.milonic.co.uk/menu/beta/mmenu.js and see what happens.

Hi,
Thanks for replying but it seems that it still can't work together. Do I have to change anything on the Beta mmenu.js? At least there's some improvements : I don't see an error message whenever I hover my mouse pointer over the OverLib section. Any more suggestions?

Conflicting JS

Post by kokako@gmx.net »

To all,
I have this strange problem, I'm not sure whether it's due to my fault or that there's a conflict between two JS scripts. Would you mind checking out http://kuanyew.tripod.com/Html/template.html ?

I'm sorry about the pop-up ad but I can't help it. The problem lies in the fact that you're supposed to see a 'box' appearing whenever you MouseOver the words 'Menu' and 'here'. But due to some internal code conflict, the DHTML Menu works fine but the other doesn't.

If you don't know what I mean, just remove all the codes for the DHTML Menu. Then the 'box' thingy would work fine. Help! I need to have both working in tandem as it's important for my website that they do.

An advanced Thank You to all those who took part in solving my problem.

No Other Way?

Post by lefou@mail.bg »

Andy,
Is there any other way to solve this problem or should I just pick one to use instead of using both together? Thanks for your reply.

Hi,
Thanks for replying. I've downloaded the latest version and have uploaded it on the test page that I've mentioned above. But still, nothing turned up. Just tell me whether, is it a problem of conflict between two scripts or maybe I've got the code wrong. Appreciate your replies.

Well, it's supposed to be that way as I haven't prepared the content for it. Sorry if you were clicking at the links. The real page lies at http://kuanyew.tripod.com and this new layout is for my new homepage. Seems like I'm unable to view it on my own computer but everything is Ok on yours. I'll see what I can do about it.

Thanks again.

I have looked at your site with IE and NS of various versions and the menu seems to be working fine, as well as your pop up boxes. I'm not sure what you are trying to do that you feel isn't working as this site does not have anything on it really, and it seems none of the links point to pages that exist. One thing I did notice that you should fix however, you are using version 3.3 of the menu but 3.2 of the array. This could cause you problems in time, you should update to the new array layout to avoid this. If you have any other problems let us know and we'll try to help.
Cheers,
Yadin
