Library not registered error

Please note that official support for this menu version has now ceased. There are still plenty of users, though, and the forum is still running. Some of our long-time users may be able to help you out.

Library not registered error

Post by milonic@guerin.demon.co.u »

Hi,

Two sites I frequent use the Milonic menu. Currently both sites are unusable by me as their navigation menu doesn't work :-(

On one site I get the following error:

Line: 45
Char: 163
Error: Library not registered
Code: 0
URL http://www.weberdev.com/main.php3

They are using Milonic DHTML Website Navigation Menu - Version 3.4.01

The other site give the following error:

Line: 122
Char: 118
Error: Library not registered
Code: 0
URL: http://www.mini2.com/

And they are using DHTML Menu version 3.3.18

My system is:

WinNT 4 SP6a plus SRP and various other HotFixes
IE 5.5 SP2 plus various security patches
jscript.dll version 5.5.0.6330

Is it my system causing the error, and if so any pointers as to how I fix it, or is there a problem with the JavaScript?

Cheers,

Dave

Dave,

You could try re-installing DirectX and see if that helps.

It seems related to the transitions that i beleive are are part of DirectX and your graphics drivers mught not have it installed correctly.

The download is <a href=http://www.microsoft.com/windows/direct ... x81.asp</a>

Let me know if it doesnt work

Cheers

Hi Andy,

Thanks for the very prompt reply :-)

And thanks for the link.

However, DirectX 8 is not available for WinNT4, the faq at

http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/direct ... ew/faq.asp

states that the only version of DirtectX supported on Microsoft Windows NT® 4.0 is DirectX 3.0a., and that I must also install Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6.

I can't check which version of DirectX I have as all the information about this on the MS sites is relevant to every version of Windows _except_ WinNT :-(

I assume that as I have installed SP6a and the SRP (security rollup package) and all security Hot Fixes since then, then I must be stuck at DirectX 3.0a.

Or is, in your experiance, DirectX 8.1 for Win 2000 OK to install on WinNT. (Does the installer even allow an install?) Maybe an upgrade to IE6 would solve the problem.

Cheers,

Dave

Hi Andy,

Your reply to my original message seems to have disappeared, probably something to do with the move from Phorum to phpBB.

And the menu at

http://www.milonic.co.uk/menu/

now doesn't even appear in IE5.5 SP2 on WinNT 4 SP6a!

Dave, did you resolve this? I have just posted a very similar problem on another thread. :?:

Both of those menu versions mentioned are pretty far down-level. However, under IE6/XP I have no problems at all seeing all their menus with no errors.

M$ has been throwing around a bunch of IE updates recently. My suggestion is make sure you have everything current locally. The menu system does not appear to be the problem.
