windows explorer type menu - know a good one?

i found a windows explorer / expanding menu on another site, but i don't want to use frames, which this example requires. does anyone know of any place to get this kind of menu without needing frames?

help is much appreciated! thanks.

Nice one I have seen but have yet to try is the one used on msdn.com. Its known as the 'deeptree'. If you go to microsoft's developers network site you will see the menu on the left. Its really quite nice because it loads in the background, and can use XML. Plus its fast because it only loads the nodes that are necessary...when you click a node, it grabs the xml file and shows it. Its really quite nice.

http://msdn.com takes me to msdn.microsoft.com (i assume this i what happens for you as well), and i see no menu on the left. i see links at the top, but the rest of the page is content. i clicked around until i got to http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp but if this is the page you're referring to, the page it's in uses frames. i don't know enough about what they're doing to say for sure if frames are required, but the use of frames at all gives me the impression that they are.

then again maybe it's not possible to do without frames.

Do a search for javascript windows explorer menu on google and you should find some things, I did.

Also, you probably should use frames. If you'll notice in windows explorer, its like a browser window split up into two frames. With the left hand side updating the right hand side. This makes sense to do that. Now the only other thing I can think of is, when you click a node in the explorer menu, the entire page refreshes (so the content gets updated, but the menu refreshes too). This is kinda redundant if you ask me. See what you can find.
