Yes, there is a version of Milonic that does this. It was called Mad Toast when I installed it. I assume that the new version 5, about to be released, will include it. You can see it working at, eg. http://www.gospelcom.net/guide/resource ... haring.php I can even fool the system into having the sam...

Thanks John. I though it was still in beta. Have you got it running somewhere?

One thing I'd certainly like to be able to do is define both fonts and width of the (vertical) menu in ems rather than pts, so hopefully it would resize according to people's browser font sizing.

best wishes

Floating menu suggestion

For my purposes, I think the floating menu is great, because everyone always has in view links to everything, on what happen to be quite often fairly long reference pages. One feature I'd like to see, or at last try, would be to have the option to set the floating menu to stick to the bottom of the ...

Thanks Kevin That certainly works in giving a font size which keeps track with the page font size! However, of course it also implies expressing menu sizing in ems as well. eg addmenu(menu=["testimonial",,,"40em",1,"",style2,,"left",effect,,,,,,,,,,,, However,...

browser caching issue

Hi folks When I upgraded to IE6, I realised that this issue which I had previously only seen in Opera might be more important - namely: IE6 (unlike IE4) caches lots of stuff, including the menuarray.js file. The result of this is that if you are adding, from time to time, new pages to the menu, prev...

shadow

Sorry, I don't understand how you did it! I had noticed in my new IE6 there was a soft drop shadow on the popout menus, but not the main menu. I had just thought this was a property of IE, and not something you could set. But then I saw the nice soft shadow on Andy's floating menu on the main miloni...

soft drop shadow

Hi

I see that (in IE6), the floating menu on the front page of the Milonic site has a very nice soft drop shadow behind it.

How as that effect achieved? It seems good to have!

Thanks for ideas.

Font sizes

Hi folks Since getting a new monitor I increased my screen resolution and played around with the windows font size to get the balance I wanted. Also on some browsers I have played with the font sizing there too. Now, because font size within the menu is expressed in points, with as far as I know, no...

Sorry, it was my mistake in including spaces beginning and end of the span title item (to make it just have a bit of space around it and be easier to read). Take those out, and I think it works perfectly!

Hi Erwin I can't get mine to do what yours is obviously doing - yet I'd like to. Even in IE6, I cannot fool the menu into thinging that page.php?anyoldthing is a different page to page.php and so should highlight it differently in MadToast. I'm glad you got this to happen for you - what is your URL ...

Problem Mac OSX and IE 5.5.

Hi I am using a left-hand menu similar to the one on the Milonic homepage - but using the MadToast version. It is working on everything except - according to a friend, Mac OSX and IE 5.5. He told me: " Menu was all screwed up on my system. The submenus kept running off the left side of the scre...

Interesting, my version of the menu (MadToast) doesn't have that option. However, as I am using a floting menu, it is not important to the page structure that it load quickly, and for speed of page loading, I did in fact put the two scripts near the end. If you have a static page, do you not want th...

That's interesting that it is browser-dependant.

So maybe my own wish to slightly differentiate pages with ?something or #something WILL work in later browers. I will try again.

Best wishes

Hi Erwin I see your problem - the menu perceives every page as the same page owing to your url structure. I did experiment with this the other way round because in a few cases, I wanted to have the same page listed under two different subject areas, and highlight either subject area it was in, accor...

Thanks, yes I know that NN just does not cope with a lot of things in CSS. I have yet to work out why the floating menu itself has a big right-hand block - Andy's own one works OK in NN4. The issue of no l.h. margin is that something in the scripts in the top (fixed) menu is somehow cancelling out t...

Thanks John. I guess my head is starting to spin too. Right, let me double check. You reported those errors on the first link (testmenu.php) but not the second (testmenu1.php), right? That indicates that although other browsers cope, NN does NOT like an apostrophe in the description that appears on ...

Thanks for your advice John. I find that NN also struggles with these, as well as not rendering the shape of the menu correctly (if I can fix it, I will, though only 4% of people still use NN4). I think it may have been an issue with apostrophes. Would you be kind enough to check again using NN http...
