alright, here is a test page i just set up :

It's the "Members" sub-menu. There is also a bug which makes my sub-menus' horizontal offset appear incorrectly on the first display, but i'll get to that afterwards!

You have no idea how much work it is though... cos i cannot really use transparency because of that outer glow, so i have to _cut every button on every page to match the different backgrounds_ ... :-| ... anyways !

Ok, I _have_ tried upgrading, and as soon as I do so, for some reason, the menu does not appear anymore. And I have never been able to determine why...

Like I was saying, in XP it does work well, it's 98 that's troublesome...

an interesting PHP script that fixes things up in IE 5+ automatically... however, if you take a look at it, i don't think it could be used if the images are going to be used in the menu, but i could be wrong ...

ok, so let's say, if i keep the images without any shadow out of Photoshop, i could simply use the effect IN the menu's filter controls themselves, and if i'm not mistaken, i could achieve a similar effect, no ?

well, actually, the idea with PNG-24's is that you CAN make them transparent and have a much more precise transparency than with GIFs... but this could be incompatible with the menu ? It could be an interesting thing to implement, then....
