thanks kev for the work & elaborate answer.
regarding the menu positioning, it seemed like the most obvious to place the 2 menus (one horiz + one vert) each in a <TD> along with all the other stuff.
please explain how i get the same result (postion:relative is good enough?) without table bound menus ...

1. yep, i should be upgrading. will do..
2. maybe i didn't describe the problem clearly: the window appears fine except there's about 800-1000 of extra window size (in white) to the left of the viewed window, meaning there's also a horizontal scrollbar present.

RTL (Right-To-Left) still bugging me

hi all,

when using the menu in right-to-left page (either <BODY DIR=RTL> or in <DIV DIR=RTL>) the menu doesn't do exactly what's expected.

2 main issues are:
1. a lot of screen space in inserted to the left of menu (view URL).
2. _subOffsetLeft and probably also other properties cannot be adjusted ...

actually, all that's needed are 3 images (6 if using rollover):
2 are left&right edges, and 1 is background image to sit behind the text. use it with the repeat-x style to cover up the whole text area of the menu item.

guess i'll leave this to the experts here, but to simply answer your question:
yes. once you're accepted for a non-profit license, you'll be able to download the version without any forced milonic links.

mind you:
1. you agree to link to milonic.com using the menus somewhere on your homepage.
2 ...

heya,

you reckon there's some possible workaround here?
can't i "lie" to milonic about the URL or change the document URL w/o refreshing?

oh, what happens if i have the SAME URL in all menu items? will it highlight all of them or just the later one?

anyways, many thanks for the help,
r. :)

menu highlighting on viewed page (menu "memory")

well, what i mean to ask is this:
when clicking on a menu and after the page reloads, the menu shows the selected menu item in a different "on" style.

(e.g.: when clicking on "support/about milonic" at http://www.milonic.com, you will get the "support" and "about milonic" items highlighted on the ...

sorry, don't worry about it,
i simply missed out on the ending of Step 2 when applying for a license.

will take care of it ASAP...

Step 2
Make sure all copyrights are intact on all files and that there is a visable link back to the Milonic site somewhere on the page(s) using the menu.

hi john,

i've been recently qualified for a license, on condition that i have a link to milonic from my website.
this is great news and i'd be more than happy to add a link, but i don't know where am i expected to add it? where to? etc?

best, r. :)

yep. exactemundo!

BUT , note that this is a problem specific to IE5.00.x . higher versions of IE render form-elements/iframes/right-to-left just fine using the milonic5 menus.

meaning the problem may lie in the milonic code, and it may not. solving the top-left (0,0) coordinate issue may not be ...

also an IFRAME issue

i forgot to mention the same problematic browsers also exhibit problems regarding IFRAMEs and form elements.
this may be even more important to fix (if at all possible), since the menus are pretty much useless once they're hidden behind the iframe and not on top of it.
(for example, when i try to ...

Seems to be an IE5.0 issue... :-\

hi andy & kevin,

here are a number of screenshots, taken on different computers.
the main difference is that problems happen to appear on IE version 5.00.x

Right-To-Left menus

i've been trying the openstyle="rtl"; and also played with the _subOffsetLeft properties but none help -- i still can't see a decent menu on a page going from right-to-lefty (<BODY DIR="RTL">).

what happens is that the submenu items are mostly on the far right, no clear regularity there.

when ...

dynamically resizing an iframe

take a look at the following response:

directing to the following solution:

i think resizing the iframe on the flight should do the trick..

tried it out on IE6 + Win2KPro - it works just fine!
a pretty impressive site, well done! :)

p.s. - take a look at the rightmost menu (i don't remember its name), viewing it causes a problem where the menu stops working altogether.

cheers, r.
