Thanks - some progress

I had indeed omitted the ; from the end of the statements and will be correcting this. However, I notice as does Viken that the parameters only affect the submenus.

I would, ideally, like to have the items that drop down from the main menu (which I had mistakenly referred to as 'sub-menus') to be ...

Menu params

Yes, the only file you ever amend is the menu_data.js file to configure your menu. Having downloaded the menu it does not necessarily follow that the menuwidth param is in the downloaded file; there are stacks of statements you can include and you have downloaded an example to act as a starter for ...

No worries!

Don't worry! I'll not get time to experiment until early next week. I didn't know about the font thing so I've learned something!

Good of you to help.

Thanks, Ruth

Ruth, many thanks for the time and trouble you have gone to with this. I will indeed try your suggestions and see how things work out.

I use IE myself, incidentally - you seem to suggest that perhaps I was using something else, unless I misunderstood what you were saying.

I'll report back as to ...

Menu item spacing - Ruth

This is the subject of my separate post which has the following links to illustrate what is happening:

The menu should look like this: http://www.glengolfclub.co.uk (this is v.5.66)

The menu looks like this: http://www.youngcc.co.uk/glen (this is v5.737 pre-release)

Thanks

I found the same error

I have posted separately on this same problem. I was on v5.66 which did exactly what you want but v5.736 messed things up. I was advised to use the pre-release of 5.737 which indeed spreads the menu 100% but does not do a very good job spacing out the menu items.

I find it disappointing that new ...

I'd appreciate a response

I really would appreciate an explanation as to why my menu is misbehaving. Thanks

I have now downloaded the 5.737 pre-release and installed here as instructed: http://www.youngcc.co.uk/glen

Two items have spilled on to two lines thus doubling the depth of the menu. It should look like this: http://www.glengolfclub.co.uk

Can this be resolved?

Thanks. Keith.

Hi Andy

Thanks for the response.

I assumed the version I was downloading was the fully tested version as I was prompted to make the upgrade via a Milonic email.

Applying the itemwidth statement to the style properties section of the menu_data.js file I get an awful result: all items are as wide as the ...

Menu statements have no effect

If I use the following:

_menuCloseDelay=1000
_menuOpenDelay=1000
_subOffsetTop=10
_subOffsetLeft=-10

the only statement that has any effect is menuCloseDelay. The menu always opens immediately regardless of the opendelay parameter I place in it and the subOffset statements have no effect - sub ...

Upgrade to 5.736 messes up item width

I have just installed the upgrade from v5.66 to 5.736 and had to revert to the old version as the menu formatting is no good with the new release.
The menu uses 'menuwidth="760"' and in v5.66 the menu assumes this width with all items evenly spaced out. With v5.736, although the menu is the correct ...
