While we're discussing Acrobat Reader and PDFs, I strongly recommend Adobe Reader Speedup from http://www.tnk-bootblock.co.uk/prods/misc/index.php.

It also helps the plug-in to view PDFs in browsers.

The transparency shouldn't be a problem.

It's the way that the menus scroll open and close that may be an issue. If there is a Microsoft filter for IE then it should be easy to replicate.

I've used this in one of my menus which seems to work:

Code: Select all

aI("text=Popup;url=javascript:alert(sometext);");
sometext="This is a popup Javascript box.";
Perhaps this would give you a start?

What's not helping me is that we have just moved to a new intranet server and the changes aren't showing as quickly as they were before.

So, you make a change and don't see a difference, and end up changing it again before it's had time to activiate!

just add

Code: Select all

target=_blank
after your URL. For example:

Code: Select all

aI("text=Google;url=http://www.google.com;target=_blank");

I've tried up to a height of 80 but it doesn't seem to be making a difference.

Can you post a line of code which you've used?

When I hover over the menu item "Andy1" it immediately goes to another page. Try putting the URL before the tooltip.

A long shot, but can you not persuade your bosses / customers that they really should be using IE6.

Anything below that is seriously unsecure (not that IE6 isn't!) and no longer supported by Microsoft.

I think you need the tooltips.js file. Download and pop it in the same folder as your other JS files. Put this line with your other menu call-up lines: <SCRIPT language=JavaScript src="tooltips.js" type=text/javascript></SCRIPT> and then in your menu_data.js file, simply add aI("text=...

Can you give us a URL so we can see the results for ourselves?

Which version of IE is the problem occurring - IE4, IE5, IE5.5?

You seem to have posted this question more than once in other areas.

Re: image backgrounds

Okay, I figgered out how to use the Photo Impression workshop, but once if done the editing it will only let me save it as a PSF file, and if I go ahead a nd chose the JPEG it re attaches all the layers I deleted, and I end up with a white background instead of a transparent one. Do it have an EXPO...

Standards just seem to be dropping everywhere. Norton products just get slower and slower. I think their answer to protecting your computer is to hinder it's operation to infuriate you so much that you turn your machine off. Adverts are getting worse, especially the transparent ones which pop up and...
