Just installed 5.33 and I see that wee problem is solved, the one in Mozilla where a scrolling menu's submenu would lose positioning. Serves me right for not keeping up with all the new cuts. I jumped from 5.18 to 5.33. But this means more work as I now create the scrolling style code in the 5.xx ve...

Much obliged to the Kevin/John combo, the best in the business. I use UltraEdit-32 for ftp which provides the option of ASCII or BINARY for upload. Oftentimes I forget to set it to ASCII and find that it works no matter what the setting. But for code edits [as distinct from html uploads] I first tes...

New Version
Kevin, on the new version code, I know the data file does not get replaced. Do ALL other files get updated? My head is still back in Version 3.x which I use in tandem with 5.x since scrolling menus don't always scroll correctly in Mozilla -- but maybe that has been fixed as I'm still in 5.18 :!: Goi...

Please ignore this reply to my own post. I'm testing to see if I get an emailed reply. Although I've watched several topics and they were replied to, I never got an email. Just now I see in my account that I was not registered on the forum and have checked the registered box. Your indulgence is grea...

Colors in Menu Items
In the howtobuild.txt instruction the various coloration codes are in the list of properties for menu items. I assume this means one can override the style properties for individual menu items by inserting the color codes in the aI statement. I can't get it to work properly. If I leave the quotes ar...

I posted this identical problem on the board a couple of weeks ago trying to get Andy's attention because if you set alwaysvisible=1 the menu WILL scroll correctly in Mozilla but of course we cannot use that solution since we don't want the submenu obstructing. MY quick fix solution is to run both t...

You need to download the newest version of the menu file, version 2.0, though I don't know if that fixes the problem. Remember to always keep your old version saved just in case.... Ruth Ruth: Could you elaborate? We're in 5.XX cuts aren't we? What is 2.0 and where do I find it? Also, while I have ...

Re: Dynamic Menu's (not DB driven) Possible?
Hi, Say I have a dir /test/ and in there there is 1.html 2.html 3.html etc.html I want the menu to list these pages as links. But say I go into my CMS system and delete 2.html and add a new page called new.html. I want my menu to reflect these changes. Just wonder what the best way of achiving this...

Have you tried putting followscroll=1; in the submenu also? I'm not sure what that will do in all browsers, it seems to work in netscape 7.1, Firebird .07. and didn't do anything strange in IE5.5 Ruth Ruth: Yes, the submenu in Mozilla is seeking the original setting position and not following the s...

Another Mozilla conundrum
Here's a further Mozilla-only glitch: I've got a menu which scrolls in an iframe. It worked fine under Version 3.x. In 5.x it works fine in IE but in Mozilla the scrolling menu's submenu loses its bearing after 12 lines when it starts to climb up presumably to where it first started. On the 13th lin...

How to figure my current status
I've got two questions, First, I've been off the board since last September and when I just came back to see how you all are [after being jogged by Milonic's anti-spam email], I see we have just gone from Version 5.11 to 5.12. Yet when I look at my downloaded version from last September the Version ...

Kev: This nifty bit of code changes the filter for the menu, not the IFrame. That's reassuring because this whole chain started by my noticing how Mozilla defaults to hiding empty iframes behind the page background image [which gives a neat breakthrough appearance to images (of varying sizes) called...

The filter can be any text string for filters that is currently accepted by the menu's overfilter. I'm confoosed! Are you manipulating the opacity of the menu itself [not my goal but something I wouldn't mind knowing how to do] or using menuitem options to vary the opacity of an iframe [my goal] Ju...

Hergio: The opacity code worked to a tee, after several false starts due to Mozilla not recognizing the command. I reverted to my FTP editor (UltraEdit32) in order to save it; I couldn't take my usual shortcut of snugging it into the html code in Mozilla where [one would here imagine Bill Gates taug...

Iframes and Background Images
Is there a way to make an iframe transparent in IE 5.5+ so that a background image shows through? Or if not, can iframes have user-defined backgrounds? In Mozilla the menus look great since the Moz is defaulted to hide empty iframes. Thus the menus in Mozilla lend themselves to creating a theatre of...
