h$ is not defined, hidetip is not defined ....

Post by bibel »

Hello,

I am using a php script to generate menu items. It works fine, except for some errors that appear sometimes : h$ is not defined, hidetip is not defined ... and so on.

I know that "sometimes" is not very precise, but that's exactly when it happens :|

The site is : http://gedas.tgh.ro

Could someone please take a look ?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are you using the Milonic tootip module on any of your pages? I didn't see it on the pages I tried (also didn't get the errors on the pages I tried). If you're using tootips.js, can you tell me which pages please?

Also, you're running v5.758. You might try downloading and installing the latest release; could be a known bug that was fixed (just saying it's possible... don't know for sure).

Cheers,

Kevin

I am not using tooltips.

I forgot to mention that those errors are shown in Firefox browser.
In Internet Explorer, the error is "Object required" and it's not displayed as often as with firefox. This is very strange.

I upgraded to latest version. The problem remains.

I know you said the error seems sporadic, but can you please post some of the pages where the error has occurred? I can't seen to get any errors on any of your pages. Which version of FireFox?

I am using Firefox 1.5.0.7

Posting a page won't help. I have had this error on all the pages, but as i said, not always. For example, i click Over Ons, then Werkdomain, then again
OverOns ... and so one, after a few clicks, i will have an error (the latest is "k$ is not defined").

This is driving me crazy.

I was finally able to connect to your site. I'm not seeing any errors, either.

Hi,

That mso stuff is code created by FrontPage I think, from the error it seems as if FF is not recognizing it as a property and therefore is ignoring it - declaration dropped. I can't get the other error to occur at all.

I moved the site on http://81.246.81.5/

I have tested on several computers, with both IE and FF, and if i click enough menu items, i always get the error.

"Object required" for IE, and "<whatever> is not defined" for FF.

How come no one else sees this ? Are you clicking at least 10 menu items ?

Hi,

I'm sorry but I cannot reproduce the errors. I clicked back and forth slowly and quickly and couldn't get any error in IE or FF.

Since you have a professional license I suggest you set up a ticket with Milonic.

This is, IMHO, a bug in the browser. I have submitted a report to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=361271

There is a test case on this problem here: http://milonic.com/bugreports/mozbug5.php

Seems that JS functions are causing a "function undefined" error even though the function IS defined. This is affecting the menu quite badly for some people in that functions are not being fired on page load so I could really do with bug being accepted as a bug and fixed bu the Mozilla team.

I'll keep you posted.

Andy,

If you have the capability, ie permissions, you may want to log in to your bug report and change the priority and severity levels. It might get someones attention.
