News scroller wanted
Hi all,
I'm looking for a news ticker script / utility that gets it's data from a text file. Does anyone know or use such a program?
Thanks
Andy.

This one is good except it doesn't work on netscape 4.7...Hergio wrote:I've seen this one used and have liked it.

I'll let you into a little secret
The menu was built in such a way that it will ulimately become an API for other stuff, for example news tickers etc.
All we need is a bolt on module that will probably be about 1k in size, maybe even less. It will be quite simple and anybody with a knowledge of JavaScript could write one. It will use most of the code already written in the menu. The only reason I've not mentioned this before is because it will need lots of documentation and more testing.
Leave it with me an I'll see what I can do.
Cheers

My gosh, I had absolutely no idea you had so much up your sleeve. I knew you had a ton of ideas, and you're making your mark on the world (internet) but I didn't know you were already creating them. Very nice....can't wait to see more as Milonic becomes bigger and better!

Hi Andy,Andy wrote:You got a sample of this news scroller that we can see it?
My view has always been that anything Flash can do, JavaScript can also do. Provided you have the right tool to do it and this is, hopefully, where we come in.
Cheers
Andy
THe scroller is on the main page of the site, and, alternatively on the milonic menu test page that I'm using at:
http://www.citytech.cuny.edu/m-menu4.html
It's under the main menu on the right hand side.
Hope you're feeling better!

In the end I went with this http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicinde ... roller.htm one. It's quick and does exactly what I need.
