Is this a bug ?

I noticed something weird after moving to 5.0.

If I try to use the menu the instant after it is loaded/appears, the menu ceases to work. You have to be fast to see it, but it happens every time...

Don't know if it is me doing something wrong, or a bug of some sort ?

I have subs dropping off all except the 2 end menus (right and left outside). All remain in view and link properly. XP Pro/IE6.

I use XP pro/IE6 as well.

You have to activate the menu the INSTANT it loads/appears for the 'bug' to happen.

You can't see it ?

Doing it as fast as I can, but these old creaky fingers aren't as fast as they used to be. It's possible you are catching things before they are really finished loading. I'm not sure I'd call this a problem.

Can you move the menu down into the <BODY> and let us know when you're done. I have a hunch.

But it still happens...

If I recall correct, the exact same thing happened with 3.x (before you fixed it).

Note: Never placed it in <body> before, I am not sure I did it right.

My hunch has gone away then, it wasn't what I thought.

However, when I pulled a copy of your site down and tried it on our dev server it worked fine.

I have known certain anti spam filters on web servers cause problems with JavaScript, could it be that? I do notice a slight delay before your site is delivered. I'm guessing it's a server problem, do you have another server you could try?

Could that have something to do with it ?

What is your reasoning behind using object buffering?

Didn't help

I am buffering my output to avoid any header errors (generating output before headers).

Output buffering doesn't matter much I heard, so I use it on all my sites.

I tried to remove everything besides the <head> section and the problem is still there. So either, its the server or something else I cannot figure out

Finally did get it to hang just before I left work. Unfortunately no answers for you. XP Pro/IE6.

If you install a test page on your server of just a sample menu from the Milonic site, can you reproduce this error? Maybe trying a simple menu we all know works right might lead to some answers.

FIXED IT!

It was a z-index problem, phew that took some doing.

RC16 should do the trick.

Ps. See, that's one (althought tiny) reason you should allow lowpaid, poor schoolteachers like me to download the menu for free/cheap, otherwise the error would still have lingered about in your glorious menu

No worries

I'm more than happy to allow you to use the menu on your educational site. This is why I'm in such a dilemma with the hole licensing situation.

We positively encourage use of the menu for education. In fact if I heard anybody was using the menu as a teaching tool I'd be overjoyed and would consider it an honour

We'll figure something out I'm sure.
