Milonic Menu appears behind dropdown menus in IE 6.x

Post by Doc »

I've got a problem where my milonic menus appear behind dropdown menus rather than in front of them.

This problem is occuring for me in IE 6.0SP1. It isn't happening in Netscape 7.0.

I've placed a sample of the code that has my problem online at: http://hillcrest.sim-racing.net/prc.html

If anybody could help me solve this issue I would really appreciate it!

Thanks in advance...

Not sure why yet, but why do you have a menu name like...?

Code: Select all

with(milonic=new menuname('Products <IMG SRC=/images/menu_divider.gif STYLE=position:relative;top:-2px;>'))

Well as far as I can tell there was no way to include dividers between menu items, so I entered them in the titles. I still have the dropdown problem with or without the IMG tags however...

Look at the quick reference guides on the main site, in menuitems there is a thing called separatorsize, separatorcolor, etc. Those properties expose the ability to have a line of any size width or color to be place inbetween menu items. I'll have to look more into the dropdown problem, I am on IE6/XP and its behind it too...as far as I know, this shouldnt happen.

Hi folks... first time here.

I'm on IE6 on Win2000 Pro. I have pretty much the same problem, though only intermittently - sometimes the menus appear behind ActiveX controls and also dropdowns. I'm afraid I don't have a URL as it's on an intranet site.

I'd be quite delighted to hear of any results!

Fingers crossed...

RC stands for release candidate. It was two months before I saw the term someplace, I just thought it was some internal name, kind of like ie5 or nn4

RC19, Release Candidate 19...currently the latest release of the menu. The menu is still in development and being changed everyday so to keep track of everything they number the releases. Until it goes "gold" (meaning its ready for final release) we use RCs. Get the latest RC, it helps clear up bugs.

Thanks for that. After much perusing of this site and a few others, I believe I'm in the wrong place! :?

I'm sure your menu is very good, and would probably work for what we need (and in fact be a lot nicer). However, I don't have the luxury of being able to go off and buy it.

We're developing an intranet app. The app needs a menu, so this was developed as well (solely for the app). We're having similar problems with this menu now on IE6 that you guys have already fixed (I guess) - namely that the menu hides behing SELECT controls and a particular ActiveX control. Strangely, the problem is intermittent - sometimes its OK, sometimes it isn't.

Having seen the problem either fixed or worked-around in a menu, at least for the SELECT problem, I'm hopeful we will be able to fix what we have. I realise this discussion is more aligned to how the menu is coded, rather than how a specific menu is implemented (so I'm probably in the wrong place!). Anyhow, if anyone is able to point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.

Regards, and thanks for your time. :)
