Menu Resize

Post by bsatyaprasad »

When I try to resize browser window, my horizontal menu bar is not getting resized. I assume that it should resize to some extent. I am not expecting that the horizontal menu be wrapped, to look like vertical menus, but should move and resize itself according to the changes in the browser window.

It depends entirely on how you've set up your menus. Without a url to visit, or your menu code to review, it's difficult to advise you. My best guess right now would be to set menu property, menuwidth="100%", in your main menu definition.

Can you post a url to a test site, so we can see what's going on and examine the code?

Excuse me... Kevin,

I was looking at your link and it does some strange things in my browser, things are getting cut up with the frames and menu gets lost in the gap. Probably just my old browser

regards,

Hi Maz,

Yeah... it's embarassing to admit, but it's still version 3, and a very old release of it at that (please don't tell Andy, John, or Dave... they might make fun of me ;) ). We decided from the outset that we didn't care if it worked in older browsers or Macs. Probably sounds callous, but the products and software we produce are pretty sophisticted, so we expect that most of our users will be up to date with their browsers (an expectation that is not always met, naturally). Plus, our customers are strictly Windows users. It does OK in the Windows browsers, 5+ range, but with the 4s you might as well forget it! Now that I have time to work on it again, we're doing a major site overhaul, so it seem like a waste to update the current one. I might have to now, though, since the cat is out of the bag!

Cheers,

Kevin

Oops... you mentioned new menu bugs without a link but didn't want to post in the bugs section ;)
Don't mind me...
Warm regards

I hadn't wanted to make a comment on that. He made some flimsy excuse about work or some such thing. What nerve...

Yep... I knew I should've kept my mouth shut! We just figured, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Anyway, when we roll the new site out, it'll have a spotless new menu with up-to-date releases. I promise! Besides... I never push... I just humbly suggest that a new update might fix a problem that's being experienced (that's the best spin I can come up with right now! :) ).
