Due to recent changes made to our domain names (moved from http://www.milonic.co.uk to http://www.milonic.com) our search engine placement has dropped dramatically. The success of Milonic depends on public awareness of our software and one of the reasons we offer free licenses is so that we can have links back to http://www.milonic.com/ that improve our importance to search engines. We have also noticed a large number of free users who have removed the links back to us. We can't emphasize enough, the importance of having links pointing to milonic.com on websites that are using our software. This allows us to remain in business and continue to develop World leading software solutions.
If you already link to http://www.milonic.com/ Thank you, it is most appreciated. If you link to us but the link is NOT exactly pointing to http://www.milonic.com/ can you please change the link so that it does, again, thank you for linking to us.
However, if you do not already link to us and you are using a free copy of our software, I must stress that it is very important that you add a link to our website on the pages that use our software, this is after all part of the free license agreement and it will help us out a great deal. All we require is a plain text link pointing to exactly http://www.milonic.com/ and this needs to be at least on the first page that uses our software.
Milonic Solutions thank you for your time and consideration and would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year.
Regards

The comments in the javascript dont actually get read by the search engine...not only because they are comments, but because its a javascript file and I doubt theres really any useful indexing information to be gained from having search engines spidering source code. But I have not researched this, so I may be wrong, but thats my educated guess.

Hi Dave,
I didn't mean the javascript, I copied the html page info onto the template, but I suppose that's like adding hidden stuff, that you don't see on the page, search engines don't like things that don't occur on the page, but then often code requires you put who the author is within the coding.
Now I'm more confused about it.
Happy Christmas,
maz

Easy solution
At the bottom of my homepage, I added this:
Should:
1. Help Milonic.
2. Make it easy for search engines.
3. Be invisible to 99+% of all visitors.
Comments on code:
1. My Footer class is 8 pt.
2. The background color of the table in which the text is located is White.
3. This is on a site for which I have been trying for 2 days to purchase a license.
,dave
Code: Select all
<p class="Footer"><span style="color:white">Menu by Milonic (<a href="http://www.milonic.com" target="_blank"><span style="color:white">www.milonic.com</span></a>)</span></p>

Noscript tags
For the links I don't want shown on my pages, I put the link within the <noscript></noscript> tags. I figure, if they don't have JavaScript enabled, then they should expect a few funky things here and there. The Web is highly a JavaScript world, so that works for me.

PS (completly off the topic) is it possible that some webbot, or something can pick up my e-mail address of these pages? because I've been getting spammed quite a bit from a ton of Yahoo e-mail addresses, and its getting annoying. Just a thought, probably no connection.

Hi,
Google will frown upon this and class it as Spam. This could ultimately get your website penalized by Google so it's not a good idea. Can you not include a proper text link on your website?
Yes, you can get spam from entering your email address on this forum. However, it is unlikely to be crawled as it uses complex php query strings in the URL but it doesn't stop people manually harvesting your email address

Yup, I can do that.
Hello,
What I have on my site is a milonic logo as a link, but when I first designed it, I wasn't sure whether or not I was required to put a text link on the page, so I put one in a noscript tag right next to the logo link. I could easily change that configuration quite easily, as I'm using Frontpage shared borders to place it on all my pages. A simple 30min change. Would you like me to change something, like delete the noscript tag link, or change to a pure text link not the logo, or something? Oh, and by the way, if you search for either "Copper Hills" or "Copper Hills High", the Copper Hills Home Page (http://www.jordan.k12.ut.us) is listed as #1, which works for me .
Always try to improve my site,
