Does this menu work across frames?
Hi - I need to use standard frames (a top and main page frameset), but I would like to use a Milonic DHTML menu in the top frame as a kind of global navigation. There are lots of menu options from each main menu item, so the menu will drop down across the main frame.
In the past this was not possible with milonic menus. Does version 5 still have the same problem or have you overcome it.
Would like to know before cash is parted with!
PS: The site must be set up in the way described so I cannot ditch the frames - before you ask!

There have been many inquiries about this subject. It seems as though Milonic does not think that uses should implement frames. They also say that version 5 was re-written with a high emphasis on performance, and that cross-frames support hurt that performance. However, it also appears that many users have complained that they do want and need cross-frame support.
Several of our corporate-wide web applications use the basic horizontal frame solution - we like it, our customers like it, and we want/need to keep using it. Several users on this forum have attempted to solve this problem on their own, and one of the tech support guys has offered his own 'unsupported' work-around. That same support person has indicated that the author of the menu system *is* working on implementing the feature for real, in what I assume would be a fully supported version.
We have chosen to implement the current solution without frame support, and are eagerly awaiting the fully functional version. If you need or want to find the 'unsupported' version, search the forum for 'frames' and you'll eventually find it.

v5 and frames
Version 5 does work very well with frames using the 'unsupported code'...for those who are interested - http://www.restaurantmagazine.co.uk
(the website is currently optimised for PC for reasons not related to the menus!

I would if I could but it's difficult because I've got the whole lot dynamic now and it's populated from a database so the code has changed. However, before I 'dynamisized' it I did get a static version working across frames using the unsupported code but unfortunately I haven't kept a copy of it. If you follow the instructions that it comes with then you shouldn't have any problems.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I think this is the URL for the thread and the link to the full code is within the thread somewhere.
