How to debug a problem with Menu

Post by SkyFlyer »

Howdy all!
I have a simple Table Menu set up and it all works fine on my computer using Dreamweaver MX.
However, when I post it and go to the site, I get no menu bar and I get ERROR on Page down in the status bar in IE. The Menu Bar should be just under the rainbow horizontal line.
I suspect that it is possible a path problem.
What are some of the things I should be checking for?
Is there anyway to do TRACE of some sort (or log)?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks for checking!

You're using release candidate 31. I put your page up using the latest version of the menu. That's 5.02. You need to get the latest version. I can't tell what width you want it, it seems to be going the full width of that table cell. I think if you want it smaller you'll need to put a width in.

Thanks for checking, Ruth.
Well I thought I was using version 5.
This is the first line of the comments in my .htm
Milonic DHTML Website Navigation Menu Version 5.0
If I get the new version, do I have to redo all my changes to menu_data, or can I just get the new Milonic_src, Mmenudom and Mmenuns modules?

I can see what you mean by being too wide. I'll work on that after I update. It all works on my home computer, but realize the internet is different. I'll get started ....
Thanks ...

I am just going by what the files say as to version. If you open say milonic_src.js you'll see Version 5.0 Release Candidate 31.0 Built: Wednesday December 17 2003 - 15:56. The newest is Version 5.02 - Built: Monday February 16 2004 - 19:41. we are out of the 'release candidate stage, and in the final build. And, you don't have to do anything with your menu_data file. As to width, I've never been able to get the darn thing to work in the menu, so when I put it in a table cell I usually put a one cell table in the cell and put the width into the table.

OK, it is working better now.
I noticed after going to one of my pages and then back, the menu bar is the right width.
Not sure how to do the width thing. I'll have to do some looking/searching on the forum.
I noticed that my HOME button is not working. I eventually plan on buying this thing, but one thing at a time. The older version showed a HOME and a Milonic button. I was expecting that again. Oh well ....
Thanks again Ruth for checking in.
If you want to look at some pictures of a kite my friend made, go to Gallery/Ellen/latest projects.

Do you have a license? If so you need to make sure you put a link to milonic on your page for Milonic to change to Home on the menu. Check this forum response. http://milonic.com/forum/viewtopic. ... lonic+link
