Post by ksp »

hi all

i have a quick question! when a menu is popped up, i want to select more than one item on the menu or rather how do i select more than one item on the menu that is popped up, like in a given age menu i have a menu that pops up with age ranges from 10 to 20 and so on upto 60 to 70.

now how do i select more than 2 age ranges in the above age menu?

u r help would be greatly appreciated and many thanx in advance!

ksp, it would be easier for some to help if you had the menu up so they can see what's going on. Are you using forms or something for them to check the age, or do you just want them to be able to select two links at the same time or something like that?

I'm not getting it either, are the questions menu links?

If it is then make it showmenu=ages

to a new menu called ages, and the 2 links for the ages.

So when you mouse over it 2 text links appear.

There may be other ways of doing it, but I'm not sure I understand.

Ok, I went to the page, and went down to the Select an Age link. When you mouseover it you get a vertical window that pops up that show 8 items
-between 11 and 20
-between 21 and 30
-between 31 and 40
-between 41 and 50 etc.

So, if I understand you correctly, you want the person to be able to click for example both between 11 and 20 and the between 41 and 50 at the same time? If that's wht you are trying to do you need to create the menu to have that in a form. So when you mouseover you get what looks like the menu but with the form ability of say little check boxes next to each item and created to allow them to check more than one item before 'submitting' which would then open, send the person to an area or whatever it is that you want to happen when certain things are checked. I'm sorry I can't help as to how to do that. Forms seem to be a blind spot for me, no matter how I've read up on and tried to figure them out. So, I gave up years ago on using any. I'm sure if what I've extrapolated from your page and what you were asking is correct that someone can help you with how to do that in the menu. It can be done. A number of people have had forms inside their menu.

I'm looking at your url in Safari, but I'm not seeing what Ruth is seeing, could you explain more what you want? Is it a form as Ruth said?

Thanks,
maz

Hi ksp,

I just had a look at your site. Your menu system does not use Milonic Menus. These are the support forums for Milonic Menus, so if you're asking how you would could do this if you were using Milonic Menus, I suppose we could offer some help. If you want to know how to do this with your current menu system, then you'll probably want to find out what the support options are for that system and see if you can get your question answered through those channels.

Good luck,

Kevin

I have to agree with Kevin - you really do not appear to be using our menu system. Looks to me more like HierMenus.

Hmmm..... Not to seem argumentative, but please tell your head that several experts on Milonic Menus agree that your menus are definitely not Milonic! They are, as John noted, HierMenus. I didn't point that out earlier, because I didn't want to put in a plug for any competitors (...John!... although I s'pose it was required the second time 'round, just to make the point).

You'll find HierMenus' site [link deleted by kevin3442] (I'm going to delete this link tomorrow). Don't know what their support options are, but that should give you a start.

If you wish to switch over to Milonic Menus, you'll find a very versatile system with lots of help available.

Good luck,

Kevin

You will also find us a lot less expensive, and, we think, our system has a lot more features and is easier to implement.

I speak from experience as a long-time beta tester and user (now ex-) of the 'other' system.

Hi,

Open milonic_src.js in a plain text editor (like Notepad). The comments section at the top contains the version number.

Good point Ruth...

If you have a file named mmenu.js instead of milonic_src.js, then you have v3 (in which case you might want to upgrade to v5). If you open mmenu.js and look at the comments at the top, you'll see which release of v3 (i.e., v3.5.15) you have.
