Pre-Sales Question

I'm considering purchasing the tool.


I noticed that one of the .js source files in the evaluation copy of Milonic makes a call to script http://milonic.com/liccheck.js.

Do licensed versions require a license check at milonic.com in order to run on my site? No offense, but I don't want my site to be dependent on your server's stability/uptime.

(Its always been up for me, but I gotta ask.)

No offense taken, but, while I understand your concern, I've never had a problem with this due to the server not being available.

What happens if there is lag, or the license check fails to load?

Is this run every time a page with milonic is loaded?

Hi,

The menu does not make ANY requests for files from a server other than your own.

The link to Milonic is just for checking license validity but only after adding a certain query string to the URL.

Under normal circumstances this is not needed and isn't executed unless explicity requested. We understand that milonic.com could become unavailable for many reasons, some of which our out of our hands, so allowing the menu to run only if milonic.com was available is impracticable and would seriously piss everybody off, not to mention the SERIOUS amount of bandwidth needed for this. The menu has literally Millions of users and could be executed tens of Millions of times per day, I dread to think how much bandwidth would be used every time the menu was executed.

So you can be rest assured that the menu doesn't make any requests for files on milonic.com unless you tell it to.

Not trying to be argumentative here, but this is a good business suggestion.

1. This forum's guidelines state that this forum is for people who 1) need help with menu implementation, (2) would like to suggest possible improvements to the menu system, (3) would like to report a suspected bug, or (4) would like to post anything else menu related.

2. This is a prime place for people to read about your tools. (As I did) Offering a forum specifically oriented to those considering *purchasing* a commercial license is just good Pre-Sales Business.

For examples of this, see: http://www.lunarforums.com and http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/ . (Two other tools/services I have paid for in the past)

I understand and appreciate that there are people monitoring this group, my question was answered quickly. For clarity's sake, it just makes sense to me that you would seperate out a forum for pre-sales.

It is a good idea but the only drawback is that a well-meaning user may reply and give the wrong answer before the moderators or Milonic team can give a correct and accurate answer.
