menu doesn't disappear in iframe in netscape 7

Post by milonic@websalive.com »

I'm using netscape 7.2
I'm looking at http://milonic.com/menusample11.php the sample on the milonic webpage.
If I drop the menus over the iframe and mouseout into the iframe the menu sometimes doesn't dissappear.
The same problem in Firefox, but fails less often.
Anyone any ideas? Is it just my installation?

Thanks
Mark

Have you got a URL that we can see?

Helps to be able to see the problem so that we can know what needs fixing

Cheers,

I have given the URL. It is
http://milonic.com/menusample11.php
It is one of the sample menus, which, when I view it with Netscape 7.2, gives problems.

Mouse over the middle link, Milonic- Opened in new window, then move the mouse right then down beyond privacy policy, stopping in the iframe. The menu stays visible forever for me, rather than disappearing.

Does it do the same for you?

Thanks

Hi Mark,
Yes, I see it. I don't know if there's anything that can fix it. The mouse has moved so rapidly that it seems the off function isn't firing, but if you move any place but the iframe it is working so that can't be it. Netscape almost acts as if it doesn't see the iframe as the page in which it resides, as if it's treating the iframe as a different browser window, like it would treat a frame in a frameset, because if you barely touch the iframe border the menu closes. I'm sure someone will see this and maybe be able to figure out what's going on. I just wanted to let you know that I have seen the problem though I couldn't figure a solution.
I don't know that this will be too much of an issue in most cases. For example, you mouseover the main menu, it drops over the iframe, usually you would either mouse over another main item because you decided you didn't want anything in the first submenu, or you mouse over and click some item in that dropped menu and that will automatically trigger the closing of the originally opened menu.

Hi,

I was about to report this to the Mozilla team and noticed that it was reported back in October 2004.

I've bumped the post at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=247401

Once I know anything, I'll post again here.

Our testcase can be seen at http://milonic.com/bugreports/mozbug2.php

Cheers,
Andy

I think it's a Mozilla issue, and as Andy noted it has been reported. There isn't much that can be done on this end, it has to be handled by Mozilla.
