compatibility with MDL Chime plug-in

Post by wagnerf »

Hi,

In my website I use several molecular structures that can be viewed using the MDL Chime plug-in.
I tried to use Milonic menus in these pages, but the menu displays "behind" the plug-in images, as can be seen in a test in the image:

How can I put the menu in front of the image :?:

Thanks,
Wagner.

How 'bout a URL (as requested). When I go to http://www.lbqp.unb.br/bioq/ I see a menu system that is not ours.

Hi John,

Thank you for replying.
I prepared a test page in the site that can be found in:
http://www.lbqp.unb.br/bioq/menu_test/m ... _test1.htm

I did not replace the current menu by Milonic because I'm planning to replace after the tests are working. There are too many pages in the site to be edited...

Went there with both IE and FF. IE didn't give me any option to install the plug-in, and FF did but said it couldn't find anything.

I contacted the network administrator and was informed that the University had some problems with the external connection, that explains your impossibility to acces the page yesterday.
I think this is solved now (our access to the world is OK, hope it works the other way around...)

Regarding the plug-in, you can find download and install instructions at
http://www.umass.edu/microbio/chime/getchime.htm
Here it works with IE and Mozilla.

Thank you for your help...

Any new ideas?

Post by wagnerf »

Hi everyone,
I'm still trying to figure out a way to get this combination of Chime / menu to work together.

Any possible ideas?
John?

Thanks,
Wagner.

First thing you'll need to do is upgrade the menu. You're running 5.736, while 5.742 is current (with 5.743 coming out very soon). Many fixes and updates.

I also noticed you're calling mmenudom.js twice. Not necessary.

:D Great!!!!

The new version actually solved the problem!
Yes, this is the only menu I've ever tested (after almost 2 years searching) that behaves well with Chime.

You really did a GREAT job!

John and people from Milonic,

When implementing the Milonic menu to the real site (not just the test pages), I could notice another problem: The horizontal main menu still stays "under" the Chime plug-in.

The vertical sub-menus are OK, but I've configured the horizontal menu to follow the scrolling page and when it appears at the same place of an Chime image, the image appears in front of the menu (only the horizontal main menu).

The site is at:
http://www.lbqp.unb.br/bioq
To check for the Chime problem, you need to go to a page that shows 3D structures, such as:
Metabolic Pathways --> Citrate Cycle --> 3D
Then scroll down until the first molecule is in front of the horizontal menu. Ther it is. The menu should be in front of the molecule :(

I tested a olt of different configurations (changing from horizontal do vertical, many different styles) but the problem persists.
Any ideas :?:

Thanks,
Wagner.

Sometimes we have DNS problems, so, if you can't reach the above address, try 164.41.95.27/bioq

Just to add one more option to test this problem (main menu over Plug-in):
http://www.bioq.unb.br

This is just another mirror.
Anyone has any suggestion?

Thanks,
Wagner.
