menu + frames problem

Post by greatmaze »

Howdy y'all!!

I've just put together my first menu and i must say this system suits my needs perfectly, however, i have come across a tiny flaw which keeps bothering me:
Basically I am using a standard vertical menu with several submenus - the main menu resides in a frame. My setup is similar to the one demonstrated at http://milonic.com/frames/ in fact it's pretty much the same thing...

So here comes the problem: If you move your mouse over a menu item which opens a submenu and then move the mouse directly to an item which does not open a submenu the submenu will remain and won't disappear until another submenu is opened or one of the items within the opened submenu is selected.

I am unable to upload my menu, but if you open http://milonic.com/frames/, move your mouse onto the 'Side 1' button in the side frame and the back onto the 'Home' button or anywhere else (except for the submenu itself or any other item which opens a submenu) you'll run into the same problem... the submenu won't close :?

This seems to be a frame-related issue since the example of a vertical menu on http://milonic.com/menusample70.php works fine... the submenu closes as soon as you move the mouse away from the submenu.

Is there any solution to this problem?!

Thanks for looking into it an taking your time!!

Hi

looks like a bug. Its in FF 1.5 as well as in IE 6.
Don´t see solution using standard information on the menu.

Hi

it looks as if there are actually two samples on the Milonic menu / frames :

a) improved version, not containing the bug
http://support.milonic.com/demos/frames/index.htm

and

b) containing the bug,
http://milonic.com/frames/

So this version should be updated or removed from the web.

Hi Michael,

I'll report this to Andy. I never even knew about that link you posted, I've just always used the demo link.

Hi Ruth,

it was greatmaze posting this link together with the note on this (assumed) bug.
(See above).

And as he/she was online yesterday (after my post) I assume her/his awareness, that this problem/bug doesn´t exist anymore.
