Status bar of disabled menu item

Post by boneil80308 »

When moving a mouse over a disabled menu item the status bar text of the disabled menu item does not automatically clear (it will still display the status text of a previous menu item). It will clear however when moving the mouse off the menu. Is their any way to have the status bar clear when moving between enabled and disabled menu items?

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi,

I don't know that there is any way to fix that. I will post to Andy and if there's a solution it will be posted back here.

Hi,

I've posted to Milonic about the issue. Since they are very good about checking things I'm sure I'll get a response.

I don't believe it's a bug. What's happening is that since you have disabled the item when you move out of the other over that item, the mouse still things it's in the item until you move off the menu or onto another item.

But, what the heck to I know, I don't program or do js

Which browser are you seeing this with?

Also, it might be wise to forget about changing the status bar. Basically, all new web browsers will disable the status bar by default (it's a security issue) so our status property will soon become obsolete.

Regards,

Hi Bill,

Just to let you know, status is no longer a menu property, it has been removed from the new version. Given the security issues, all the new browsers have this disabled. You don't need to redo your data file, the menu will just ignore that status=

Thanks for the update on the Status text. I'll just remove it from my menus and that will be that! :-)

Just FYI, if you have a lot of menus, leaving the status property in place will do no harm. It will just be ignored with the new versions (i.e., 5.751 and up).
