Adjusting offsets in framed menu elements

Post by Croata »

Hi again,

This post is a consecuence of some behaviors noticed in the menu after achieving the right-side scrollbar placement in a framed environment, as shown in my previous post.

Foreword: For explaining this problem I assume a MSIE 5.5+ as a client, and this web page as example for showing the issues.

The problem is the incorrect display of the menu items in the "body frame" for 2 situations:

1) When some scroll has been done in the "side frame" scrollbar
2) When accessing the menu for a 2nd or 3rd level in a horizontal menu ("header frame") who uses "divides"

In both cases, the menu items for the "body frame" appears vertically biased, since they lack of an offset adjustment or similar mechanism :(

It's not important for the example to work for the 2 orientations at the same time. An offset correction for each orientation separately would be perfect.

Thanx a bunch again,
Cro

Hi,

I think I better mention some things because you are going to have a problem with this layout for the menu if any client has accessibility set for font size. If they do the font will default to the size they have. THis means if they have a large font size set the menus will not be usuable.

If you could tell me the layout you want for the site I can work up some things and post them for you to test.

Well, my first text would be very hard to understand without an example, so as I mentioned the example site is at http://www.dinko.cl/milonic

There you can experience the 2 issues related the wrong vertical display for body menues, in both horizontal and vertical versions.

Please test using MSIE 5.5+ since this is the browser chosen by my company's "thinktanks", and doesn't run correctly in FF
