IBrowser 2.3 and menu code

Post by Steve(spt) »

Hi folks,

I got a strange email for one of the users of my site telling me that the menu code throws up errors when he uses the site with Ibrowser2.3 - the web browser for Amiga computers / AmigaOS.

IBrowse 2.3. is reporting ECMAscript errors like this:

Tuesday 25 July 2006 00:15
http://www.jupiter-ace.co.uk/emulators_win.html
Reference error on line 1 of function f_
Property not found
if(!v&&v!="")_mi[_bl][_$S[$i]]=S[$i]}_m[_mn][0][_c-2]=_bl;

Reference error on line 1 of function f_
Property not found
if(!v&&v!="")_mi[_bl][_$S[$i]]=S[$i]}_m[_mn][0][_c-2]=_bl;

Can any one tell me why? I would be most greatful if someone could answer this as I do not use Amiga computers.

kind regards,

This is not a browser we support for the menu (see http://milonic.com/supported_browsers.php). Unless Andy has an idea we're going to be out of luck.

Sorry...

Amiga browsers are horrendously outdated. It's been three years since I last used an Amiga and iBrowse 2.3 had already come out by then.

JavaScript and CSS support on the Amiga has always been incredibly sketchy, I don't think there's going to be much you can do for this guy other than create a JavaScript detection script to serve him a different menu.

Speaking for myself (not for Milonic, because I don't work for them), my guess would be that there's nothing that can be done about this. Given the comment from gazchap, your user really needs to get with it.
