loading array in memory?

Hi guys,

don't really know what I'm talking about but...my menu array is huge and when the page loads it takes about 10 seconds to load (much longer in nestscape and mac ie5) this is ok for the first time you arrive at the page but when you hit "back" to return to it, it takes the same time to load again. As the page is a main navigation page it's a bit slow.

Is there any way to load the array into the browser's memory so it doesn't have to read the array every time?

I was having a similar thought with the frames version.

Due to a couple bugs which I have mentioned in a different section, is there any fundamental reason why you couldn't put the main proportion of the mmenu script into a frameset.

My unfounded opinion for the bugs with the frames version is the confusion which I would have thought would have been created when trying to use two copies of the mmenu.js code as one.

Once loaded of course, changes to the target frame wouldn't result in a reload and the other reason why this would be so good is that it would mean that I wouldn't have to copy the sub items code into every page that might occur in the target frame. Although my site doesn't do this, other people may load up other web sites into their target frame and then their menu system will break.

The code I use now is hiermenus3, which does exactly what you describe. Everything is loaded in the top (navigation) frame, and it doesn't matter what you load into the main frame, it works. Andy, if you're watching, take a look at hiermenus3! (When hiermenus was still good and free).
