Which menu type to choose?

Post by saaiberke »

Hello, I am new here. I found you guys in my search to a decent menu system for my website. Can i ask for your opinion which is the best menu type to choose for this site?

I would like to use images for the main menu with a black background and red characters but I don't know which style to use.

I hope you will advise me and I am looking forward to get a license to use for my site.

Greetings,

Nic

Hi Nic,

Since I am partial to Milonic, then you have my vote. It is Milonic. I am a volunteer and do not work for Milonic, but I like the menu so much I have been doing help on the forum for a few years now. It is extremely versatile, and it is very easy to design to fit your own personal style. There are any number of examples from which to choose, and you can of course make your own images and use them. There are a number of samples available from which to choose and you can, as I noted, use any one you want and modify it to contain your own image design. You can find the samples, since you said images, you might want to look at the image based ones, these sample are reached from the main site, http://milonic.com under the DHTML Menu and then down to the DHTML Menus Samples. You'll see any number of them there.

If you're asking which one of them to use, I would have no idea. A lot depends on what it is you like as to looks. I'd be glad to give you some ideas, but only if you tell me what colors, or show me something kind of in the ball park of what you like as to images for design.

Nic, any of our samples can be modified by you to get the look you want for your site. They are all there simply to give folks an idea of the menu capabilities. However, as Ruth suggested, since you want an image-based menu, it would be easiest to look at those samples to get some ideas. Again, it makes no difference which one you download.

Thank you for your answers and info. :)

I have been working on styling for a menu the last couple of days and came up with this one which works great in Firefox but doesn't want to work in Internet Explorer. It always says that I have errors on the page at line 17.

The home and forum button are working but as soon as I want to use the rest of the menu, nothing happens.

Did I do something wrong? Any tips or help would be very much appreciated. :)

Grtz,

Nic

Ya gotta think American! :D

Try...

Code: Select all

oncolor="gray";
...not 'grey'. It's in 2 places in your _data file.

OTOH, IE is really pretty dumb :!:

Hi,

Try spelling 'grey' as gray and see if that fixes it.
