I have just upgraded from ver. 3 to 5, but the menus are not working. Here is the error message I get:

Line: 17
Char: 901
Error: Class not registered
Code: 0
URL: http://www.ecumenism.net

I don't think it is an error in how I set up my page. I get the same error when I view http://milonic.com. Same line #, same Char #, different URL. I'm not sure what's going on. I presume that nobody else is getting this error with the Milonic homepage, so it must be something at my end. But I had this problem the first time I visited http://milonic.com this morning.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Nick (very confused)

p.s. I should point out that I have called the data file and the mmenudom and mmenuns4 files from within another javascript. This is to allow the user language selection. It worked fine with ver. 3 and does not appear to be the problem with ver. 5. In any event, it has nothing to do with the error I see when I view http://milonic.com.

Exactly what browser (and upgrades to it) and OS are you running?

I have set up a temp file following the instructions in the install.txt file. It can be found at http://www.ecumenism.net/temp/index.htm.

I have reinstalled ver. 3 for the remainder of my site so that my users will not kill me.

The problem still occurs on the temp file, as on the http://milonic.com page.

Am I the only one? :?

I am running IE 6.0.2800.1106 on Win 98 SE 4.10.2222A.

The IE upgrades listed are: SP1, Q324929, q313829, Q810847, Q813951, Q813489, Q330994

I'll go take a look at the Windows Update page and see if any updates make the problem go away.

Looking at the /temp/ link you posted with Safari1.0, NS5.2.3, and Mozilla1.0.2 (Linux), I see no errors. The menu operates fine.

I have checked the temp file with Opera 7.11 and found that it works fine.

I looked at your website, to see how you had installed the menus. However, the same error appears on your site.

I am obviously the only one who is experiencing this problem. IE 6 is a common browser. Somebody else would have had this same problem if it was an IE problem.

I'll have to look at reinstalling it all. I'll let you know if that fixes it.

Well, I've reinstalled IE and now the problem is gone. I guess I should have tried that earlier.

Thanks for your help.

I wonder what must have gone wrong with IE. Hey, a reinstall shouldn't be your first option either, so dont feel bad! Glad you were able to find the problem and get on your way.

That's pretty much a last resort thing, Nick, so I wouldn't feel bad about it. Of course, we are talking about M$ here...
