300 Items in submenu causes problems

I have created a menu that has multiple sub menus. when I create sub menus greater that 300 items the moused over sub menu doesn't go away after you take the mouse off of it.

Anyone know if there is a fix for this other than breaking the sub menus down into smaller sub-sub menus (that would be my last resort)?
