Add a small delay to the munu popup

Is it possible to add a small delay before a level 2 munu pops-up.

Start Menu in Windows works that way. I've noticed some users when they use my site accidentatly roll over the first level menu below the one they currently have selected as they move to the level 2 menu. A short delay would prevent the second level menu from opening until the mouse stays on the munu for .5 sec or somthing. Also a nice feature (but not nessesary) would be to have a click open the munu immediatly. If the delay time was a variable in the properties file then the people who did not want to use the feature could set it to 0.
