Netscape 7 problems

I upgraded to version 5 and love it as many old problems are resolved. After posting a new first page on my site I noticed that selecting a menu item in Netscape 7 caused the page elements to double. This seems to work correctly in all other browsers I tested. Location is http://www.geneseotrack.com (only the home page was changed to the new menu so far)

Looking at your site in XP Pro/IE6 I don't see anything like you describe. It all looks fine.

edit... Heh, I meant to say NS7.1 - sorry.

Netscape 7.1 is working fine too.

If I could download Netscape 7.0 from netscape.com I'd be able to test that too but it seems they don't want anybody using it anymore, could be something in that, dunno though

It still was bad for me until i closed my sidebar and the problem went away. Now it seems ok. I am using netscape 7.02 so I will check for an update. I try to test everything in Netscape 4.79 and 7, opera 7, mozilla 1(I think) and IE6 for greatest compatibility.

Oh, brother - just 2 posts on the board and already you're swearing at us - 4.79 indeed

Not to mention you left out the Mac browser - Safari (at least for OS X). It'll give you some trouble until they get it squared away, but with IE backing out you need this one.

I have to test things on 4.79 (I used to say it was just not compatible) because the college still has that as the DEFAULT browser on all their old computers! Update anyone...

I would love to test on Safari but at the moment don't have a mac available - my test iMac ate its hard drive again and it would not do OS x anyway.

One thing I haven't tried is to use renamed menu files because I have several different menus I will need to use - I'm hoping that the_dat one can be renamed.

As you can see from my sig we're pretty much in the same boat. While ASU has not 'standardized' on that piece of junk, they feel enough connections are being made with it to continue support. I disagree. It's far too limiting, and the extra work involved to support it just is not worth it. Updating just isn't that hard. Good grief - these are supposed to be higher education folks!

You can have as many menu_data.js files as you need, with whatever names you like. Just don't rename any of the other files in the system.
