Post by timber »

Just received an e-mail concerning the URL change. I made it in my link to Milonic.com but the the script still directs it to the uk site. Any suggestions?

Hi Timber,

I wouldn't worry about it. I imagine Andy might get around to changing that in a future update. But it's probably pretty low priority since most spiders/crawlers aren't going to crawl the .js code anyway (which is the reason for the request to put a plain link in the html).

Cheers,

Kevin

You probably want to download the source code again to make sure you get any updates to the URL he has as well in the source code. But as Kevin said, the most important is to have a link somewhere in the HTML code, thats what the search engines see.

We need EVERYONE to take action here and get some links to milonic on their sites. Another competitor of Milonic's has risen to the top of search results, and its not right! Link Link Link!!!

From what I understand, they have not done so in a very legitimate manner...

Just thought I better clear up a few things.

The problem is due to us moving from milonic.co.uk to milonic.com, nothing else.

Google sees milonic.com as a pathetic website and doesn't give it any weight, this is why we've gone from having a great position to nowhere any good on Google.

So this just goes to show that Google doesn't take the content of your website into much consideration, both domains contain exactly the same information. What it does do is see who is linking to you and then this boosts your listing.

Both milonic.com and milonic.co.uk have a page rank of 8 which apparently is very good but it certainly doesn't do us any favors.

With regard to us SPAMMING Google, as somebody pointed out as being unethical. See this:

See paragraph 4 on this page if you need confirmation
http://www.google.com/webmasters/4.html

We are merely doing as we are told and really appreciate if people can link to us.

Cheers
Andy
