Image-based menu not working in opera 9.0 beta

Post by jfrode »

Hi.

The imagebased menu ( http://milonic.com/menusample18.php ) stopped working in the last opera 9.0 beta release. It worked in the "preview" versions that was released before the beta so something probably got broken in the last version.

The problem is that nothing happens when i click on a menuitem.

So if we can find the exact error we should file a bug report over at http://www.opera.com

Latest beta release of Opera can be found here: http://snapshot.opera.com

Hi,

Are you saying the sample menu on Milonic is not working or is it the sample on a page you created?

My menu doesn't work and also none of these sample menus are working:

http://milonic.com/menusample18.php
http://milonic.com/menusample16.php
(here the normal(text based) links works but the picture links doesn't work)

So i guess it has something to do with the "onClick/onRelease" function on the pictures. Also if i press the mousebutton on a picture and move the mouse a little bit the text on the page underneath the picture is being "marked" as though the menu wasn't there.

Hi

beta also means:
known to contain bugs !!!!!!!!!!!

so it has not necessarily something to do with the menu.

Yes, i know. I just thought it would be better to pinpoint the error more precise and then file a bug report over at opera.com.

The javascript code is so compressed and contains cryptic function-/variable-names so it makes it hard for me to find the exact javascript command that fails. It would be easier for milonic or others who got the sourcecode in a more human-readable format. ;)

Seems to work OK for me in Opera 9.0 - have a look and see if Opera have released an update since you first installed it.

Also, which Operating System is this on?

Hi.

I'm currently using 9.00 Beta Build 8414 on windows xp, and it still doesn't work.

The problem is with the "image-only" menu. The submenu opens fine, and the images changes on mouseover but nothing happens when i click on a menuitem. Also the cursor doesn't change to a "hand-symbol" like when hovering other links.

I reported it on operaforum here:
http://my.opera.com/community/forums/to ... ?id=135578

If you know what javascript functions who are different on the image-version of the menu it would probably make it easier for opera to pinpoint the error.

I have been on the page you mention. The bug is also reported to Opera. But the javascript code for the menu is pretty hard to debug as it has been made human-unreadable for compression and "not-to-be-read-by-the-users" reasons.

So i was just wondering if anyone on this forum has the javascript code before it is crunched into the compact-version so they could check what functions are failing on the new Opera build.

The error still persist on the latest build from opera. (latest "weekly"-build can be found here: http://my.opera.com/desktopteam )

I just hope for the error to fixed before the final 9.0 version is coming out! ;) And the more concrete error we can report the greater is the chance that it is fixed.
