Safari table version submenu offset problem

Post by aceadman »

I've read several threads on this, but cannot seem to figure out why there is an offset in the submenus in safari on the mac when using relative placement of the main menu in a table. Here is the "out of the box solution" - Menu Sample 9.

when viewed in Mac Safari 2.0, it looks like this:

I've seen some posts on this problem, but none of them contained an understandable solution. In fact, the last one posted on July 27th has never been answered.

Can anyone address this issue again?

Hi,

Well, I don't know if there's a fix for the Safari 2. There were some real problems with that, like the menu always going behind flash. It was a browser issue and not a menu issue. They are bringing out 3. I know the flash issue was fixed with Safari 3, maybe the table issue also.

If you will give me a link so I can get your page I'll try and see if I can figure out something. In the other cases the people ended up doing something else, or not being able to give the page. I really have to have that to 'play' with it.

Ruth,

I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you who volunteer on this forum. You have helped a lot of people with their issues over the years! :D

I came up with a workaround that is described here:

http://milonic.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 3668#43668

As I stated in my post, the solution (placing the submenus absolutely) was reasonable for a corporate intranet where I could test all supported browsers/platforms.

The problem can be viewed by anyone with Safari 2 on a Mac right on the table-based relative menu sample page:

Hi JV,

Thanks so much for posting that solution, I really appreciate any help like this since it helps others that I can't. I've posted your post to Milonic for them to take a look.
